How Acupuncture Helps You Relax
Once in a while, the benefits of acupuncture are pretty obvious—and relaxation is at the very top of that list. From the quiet, restful time you’re spending on yourself to the release of the emotions and even pain or discomfort you came in with, it’s easy to see how acupuncture leaves most patients feeling refreshed and relaxed.
But why do our bodies respond the way they do? Simply put, acupuncture uses your own body to bring relief. It often releases endorphins that help you relax and feel happier. And that alone is a pretty powerful benefit.
When you come to Radiant Sun Acupuncture, our goal is to help you feel your best, so your appointment takes place in a quiet, comfortable room with low lighting and gentle music. Before we’ve even placed a needle, your blood pressure and heart rate should begin to lower and your muscles should start to relax.
Acupuncture is also a great option to calm stress and anxiety, so if you’re experiencing either of those feelings, let us know when you arrive. We’ll tailor your appointment to help you get some relief, which again will help you relax. A few common points your acupuncturist might use to treat stress and anxiety are Du 20 (on the top of your head), Yin Tang (on your forehead) and Emotion 1 (on your wrists, feet and near your solar plexus).
But of course there are always other sensations you might feel after your appointment. Some people leave feeling increased energy, while others feel tired and need to rest and drink water to replenish their body. However you’re feeling after your appointment, listen to your body and trust that it’s helping you find the balance you need to relax and reset.
