Acupressure for Anxiety

Acupuncture is a great addition to your mental health wellness routine: it reduces anxiety and depression, helps with insomnia, promotes overall wellness and mood stability, and much more. And Traditional Chinese Medicine includes some great points you can use right at home to help calm your mind and ease anxiety. Hall of Impressions and Union Valley are two good points to start with.

(Please note that Union Valley should NOT be used if you’re pregnant, as it can induce labor.)

Hall of Impressions:

  • Located between your eyebrows

  • Sit comfortably and close your eyes

  • Take slow, deep breaths and apply gentle, firm pressure in a circular motion using your finger or thumb for 5-10 minutes

Union Valley:

  • Located in the webbing between your thumb and index finger

  • Apply firm pressure using the thumb and index finger of your other hand

  • Massage for 4-5 seconds while taking slow, deep breaths
