TCM & Winter

We all know winter means snow, cold, wind and shorter days. Those are the obvious external factors acupuncture helps your body navigate so you can stay healthy and balanced this time of year.

But in Traditional Chinese Medicine, winter is also the season of Yin, which represents cooler, inward, damp energy. It’s a time of reflexion and rejuvenation. And it’s a time to prepare for spring’s warmer months, to rest and to balance our bodies.

Winter is also associated with the kidneys—the source of all Qi in our bodies. This is the time of year when our Qi is most easily depleted, so it’s important to nourish it through rest, reflection, the right winter diet and wellness routines like acupuncture that give your Yin an extra boost.

It seems simple, but winter in TCM is really all about taking care of yourself, building your energy reserves and slowing down so you’re ready to welcome the renewed energy of spring. And acupuncture is here to help you along the way, boosting your immunity, and balancing your Yin and Yang so you can feel your best.
